About Me
Doreen G. Hills isn't just a therapist; she's a seasoned guide who has walked alongside individuals through their most challenging journeys for over two decades. Holding a remarkable array of credentials – LPC in Colorado, LMHC in New York, NCC, CCJTS, CCFC, Certified EMDR Therapist, and CCTP – Doreen's expertise is as deep as it is broad. Her commitment to the field is further underscored by her four-year tenure as Vice Chair for the Colorado Board of Licensed Professional Counselor Examiners.
Doreen's experience isn't confined to the traditional therapy room. Her early career in the US as a caseworker, residential manager, and hotline worker provided a foundational understanding of human struggles. But it was her time in the Philippines, connecting with fishermen, orphans, and the Muslim community in Manila, that truly forged her understanding of trauma, resilience, and the profound capacity for healing. These firsthand encounters ignited a deep-seated belief in the power of community and the necessity of tailored, holistic approaches to recovery.
Trained in EMDR, EMDR-Sandtray, and certified in the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (Brain Map), Doreen skillfully integrates mind-body techniques to address the intricate layers of trauma and attachment wounds. She recognizes that healing isn't a one-size-fits-all process and passionately advocates for individualized care. Her extensive training portfolio, encompassing complex trauma, attachment, grief, neuroscience, vicarious trauma, human trafficking, and leadership, reflects her unwavering dedication to continuous learning and providing the most effective support. Her insights have also been shared through multiple appearances on The Trauma Therapist Podcast, further extending her reach and impact.
Beyond her professional achievements, Doreen's vibrant personal life enriches her approach. Her love for family, travel (especially to see her grandchild "El Chanko"), reading, home, gardening, Filipino food, jazz, karaoke, and the restorative power of a "siesta" speaks to her well-rounded nature and her understanding of the importance of balance and joy in life.
Doreen Hills offers more than just therapy; she offers a compassionate and knowledgeable partnership on the path toward healing and growth. Her diverse experiences, extensive training, and genuine care create a space where individuals can feel seen, understood, and empowered to reclaim their lives.
